GCZ 1 - HCO 1 --- 1:2
The GC men faced off against Olten at home after a challenging game the week before.
As is usual against Olten, the game gets immediately heated with some strong tackles and some choice releases of frustration at the umpire though the game remained dead locked after the first quarter. Both teams were throwing everything at each other's goals with many long overheads and chances in the circle.
The second quarter was much the same but with a well won short corner, Lucas Harte was able to convert the 3rd rebound and score shortly before half time. After the break, Olten quickly responded with a goal to put the game strongly back into contention. Though goals weren’t numerous in the latter part of the 3rd quarter, cards were dished out at every opportunity for both teams.
The fourth quarter was much like the 1st quarter with hectic plays from both teams and many chances on goal. The game was shaping up to go to shoot outs but two minutes before the end, Olten won a short corner and subsequently converted. Trailing by one goal and two minutes left on the clock, GC had no option but to pull the keeper. Despite GC throwing everything forward in the final minutes, Olten held firm and secured the three points. Final score: 1–2 to Olten.
