HC Lugano - Grasshopper Club Zürich --- 1-7
Last Sunday, we faced HAC Lugano away from home in sunny Lugano.
We were in control of the game right from the start, but we were still unfocused at first and made a lot of mistakes. Harte then opened the scoring with a back hand shot after receiving a perfect assistance pass from Landtwing. Before half-time, the home team responded by equalizing with an unexpected goal. As we didn't manage to score another goal, we went into the half-time break with a 1:1 score. We wanted to finish off our chances better, especially in the opposing quarter, and move the ball even better in our own side. This worked well and Haberthür put us ahead again. Now the spell was broken. Scheuer also scored from a penalty corner and we took a 3:1 lead into the final quarter. This became a demonstration of power on our part. The Ticino team, physically weakened, put up little resistance. Harte, Poulastrou Gonzalez and Unger scored further goals. The final goal was scored by Melideo with his first goal in a blue and white kit. In the end, we won clearly with 7:1, but cannot be completely satisfied with the performance.
With this result the team had secured the first position heading the end of the second round, and took a good distance from the rest of the teams in the general standing table. GCZ is currently 1° with 32 points, followed by HC Olten with 20 and RWW with 19 (both with one less match played)
Next Sunday against HC Olten we need better concentration and more intensity. We look forward to your support at the Hardhof at 10am for the last home game of the second round. HOPP GC!!!
