Grasshopper Club Zürich - Blackboys Hockey Club --- 0-2
After a good pre-season, our first official match was against Blackboys. Eager to take 3 important points against a direct competitor we started the match with some new faces, Naomi, Emily, Machteld and Celi (back from injury), and unfortunately had to say goodbye to some others (Frances, Geri, and Marina).
GC was mostly dominating the game and had some chances and one offensive corner, while Blackboys did not have any shots on goals. After the break GC was still dominating but did not manage to put a goal on the scoring board. Blackboys on the other hand received one penalty corner which the GC defense stopped. They continued with their pressure and scored a doubtful first goal, deflecting a direct hit into the D over the GC goalie (0:1). They continued pressing and took advantage of having limited GC players on our defensive half after a GC offensive penalty corner, came out quickly and managed to beat the GC defense/goalie scoring 0:2.
GC pushed to turn the score around but was unsuccessful in the last quarter despite a few chances.
