Servette Hockey Club - Grasshopper Club Zürich --- 2-2
The GCZ NLA ladies team arrived for the match in Geneva after a 3-hour journey. The game was tough. Servette started with a high press, making it difficult for GCZ to break through the lines and connect with the strikers. Despite this, GCZ managed to build up play and reached Servette’s goal area several times, but Servette's solid defense intercepted many attacks. In the first quarter, Servette scored a goal, forcing us to realize that we needed to raise our intensity and regain confidence.
In the second quarter, GCZ gained control, dominating 1v1 situations. This led to a short corner that resulted in a goal: a precise pass from Lula to Eline, who delivered a powerful push to get GCZ back on track.
The 2-1 lead for GCZ came in the third quarter, following another short corner. After two rebounds from the goalie and the defender Marieke converted the opportunity. With this, GCZ fully regained confidence and took command of the game.
In the final quarter, both teams were evenly matched, battling to control the game. However, in a tense moment, Servette managed to score their second goal. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, sending the outcome to be decided by shootouts. Tanja did a great job defending against Servette's players. After five rounds, it was still tied, leading to a 1-for-1 sudden death in which Servette prevailed. The GCZ NLA ladies take 1 point home and are focused on improving for the next games.
