After a frustrating and narrow loss against Basel on Saturday the team had to bounce back and secure 3 points against Olten to have any chance of a playoff spot.
Before the match the focus was on calmness under pressure and controlling the game which resulted in a strong start and the first goal courtesy of Ben Eddy. The second quarter passed in similar fashion, Grasshoppers being made to work hard to play the ball out but producing good chances until a lovely move finished by Fabian Steiner made it 2:0 at half time.
Inspirational words at half time from Frank resulted in sustained pressure and further goals from Roman and Mathias with opportunities for Coope, Tim and Burmann but all well saved by the Olten goalkeeper. The final quarter was all about the game control that has been lacking over the past few weeks with the only notable incidents Andrew Palmer having a goal poached by the otherwise excellent Steiner and a spell on the sidelines for Jordan after an over enthusiastic tackle.
Overall this was the performance that GC required before the final match with Luzern, a good three points and a clean sheet which has been missing since the game against Black Boys.
