GC Herren 1: Grasshoppers 1st Team Promoted in Style

Grasshoppers, coached by Frank Zenker will be back in NLA next season having wrapped up the NLB title with two games and a weekend still to play.

The men's 1st squad had secured maximum points from their previous 6 games with an impressive goal difference of +27. Averaging just over 5 goals a game and conceding only 0.6; the omens coming into the weekend were good for the Zurich side.

Red Sox - Grasshopper Club Zürich --- 1:4
Red Sox are tricky opposition, largely due to some unique talents in their squad and what they may lack in discipline and structure is often compensated by individual ability. In addition to this Red Sox still had a slim chance of winning the NLB title. However a hat-trick from captain Roman Richner and another score from the prolific Dénes Heins extinguished any remote chance of the title going anywhere other than Grasshoppers. GC admittedly were not at their best having to call on shot stopper Fabian Starsich on more than one occasion but as all good champions do; managed to grind a result out.

Goals; Roman Richner (3); Dénes Heins (1)

Grasshopper Club Zürich - Luzerner SC 2 --- 8:2
Lucern lay at the foot of the NLB table but should never be written off especially indoor where lapses of concentration can be punished. GC arguably played some of their best hockey this season in this game and dominated from start to finish with goals coming in regular intervals. This time Fabio Landtwing notched a hat-trick adding to a brace from Roman and single efforts from Ben Eddy, Fabian Steiner and Denes.

Goals; Fabio Landtwing (3), Roman Richner (2), Ben Eddy(1), Fabian Steiner (1), Denes Heins (1)

Grasshoppers have two games remaining against HC Wettingen and RW Wettingen where they look to secure an unbeaten season in Switzerland second tier to add to the NLB title.
